Hi,

I'm realtively new to the Flight Sim world. Have a copy of FS2000, and would
like to start tinkering with designing my own scenery. I downloaded a copy of
Airport 2.6 from this site, and played around with it, but I think I'm a little
over my head. Are there any web sites or things like that that would explain
the various file types, extensions, etc. Basically, I'm looking for a
"designing FS2000 Scenery for Dummies" type approach.

Thanks,
Mike
Mike,
Unfortunetly there doesn't seem to be a "Scenery for Dummies" or else I would
have bought one as soon as it came out. I have been designing scenery with
Airport for a little over a year and would love to have one source for all my
information. There are many sources for the info you need. You just have to
look around. Here are a couple of places to get started:.

1)A good start is the tutorial that comes with Airport. It's dated(seems like
it was originally written for FS5) but it works. You basically creat an island
out in the middle of the Atlantic and get practice just adding items.

2)This site and others has tutorials.

3)Download the Scenery Design Whitepaper for FS2K and Airport (download
sdw1.zip). Good info.

4)Monitor this forum. You'll be surprised what you can learn. Chances are any
question you have has been asked by others and maybe answered on this forum.

5)Just keep working and experimenting with Airport. You'll be surprised with
what you teach yourself.
