Question Placing stationary cameras for flyby capture – How?

I have been doing searches for this info for a couple of days and haven't found the post that tells me how to do it. It's probablly here but the offerings here are rather extensive. 'Disneyflyer' had one for the FS2004 and it works great, but I am trying to do some videos in FSX. Expecially in Courcheval and a few other Alps airports. I cannot find out how to set a stationary flightfollowing camera at positions of my choice. Active Camera only has a 2004 version that I could find and I found no posts so far that gave me that information, though there were a plethera of discussions about camera shots and settings.

I particularly like having a camera set on the end of the runway to catch the approach and landing and also the take-off which tracks the aircraft.

There was a pre SP1 freeware file (FSCAMX or something like that)here on flightsim.com that was supposed to allow that but it didn't function for me under SP2.
Anyone willing to help this video novice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Go to the view menu, new view, select your runway of choice.

Okay so I probably didn't call the camera the right label or in someway didn't express it well enough. I guess "tracks the aircraft " should have been stated "follows the aircraft" I want to be able to set a camera that remains stationary while the plane does a flyby and it stays focused on the aircraft while it does its thing. Small airports like Courcheval don't give me a runway view either though those aren't the type of view I am talking about. Plus I want a whole lot more control of the camera shot for some other interesting views. This is for videoing a completed flight that I can replay again and again and get the different views of the flight and record them. I have seen some well done videos where a stationary camera follows the aircraft and it is definitely not in the tower.

In FS2004 you can put the tower camera anywhere you want and it does what I'm trying to express.

I appreciate your responding, Andy but I am looking for something different I'm afraid. Sorry I wasn't clear.

    Any other ideas out there?

Get out the sdk, and read about camera placement.

The only way I have found to do it is to use a saved flight. From there you can create/edit your own camera defenitions. You'll still need to read the sdk most likely. I think I copied some of the default camera defenitions and altered them to meet my needs.

Seems like a strange reply for someone who didn't read the whole post before he answered the first time

Since we all have busy schedules, placing cameras via the sdk is a bit more intense since it involves a certain level of programming skill. I (we?) were hoping someone with a little more knowledge on the way video is done could give us the benefit of their experience. Or perhaps someone has written a program that accomplishes it. I think we will let the question hang out there for a bit and hope for a more substantial response from those making the videos.

    Thanks anyway Andy.

Not sure about the heart of the response, but we will continue to look for something a bit more substantive.
