A Friend's Appeal For Help

A friend of mine emailed me asking for some FSX help. Because I've had to busy myself with certain other matters, rather than make him wait I'm going to present his request here in public, albeit anonymously ...

I have just finished rebuilding a friends computer with a new hard drive after the old one crashed and wouldn’t boot anymore. We have re-installed Windows and FSX and the computer running fine, But, my friend is upset that all of his saved mission data is now (apparently) lost.

However, his failed hard drive is not completely dead, and has powered up as a slave on a separate computer, and I am able to read data from it. Can you tell me if you know of a way to import or restore his custom data, ie, missions, planes, etc. from the old drive and how to put it into the new installation.

I haven't forgotten but I have been busy starting up the new PC Software/Data Maintenance forum and it's going to continue to dominate my time for the next 2-3 days. Please bear with me.

In the meantime, I started a new thread in the FSX forum, "A Friend's Request For Help". I'm hoping that people who are more knowledgable about FSX than I am will chime in. So please monitor that thread.

Thanks for writing back,.....
We solved the problem......
I ran Chkdsk /f and Windows repair and managed to get the old hard drive up
and running......I was still worried about another failure, so I cloned it
to the new drive, and trashed the old one anyway. Now he is back up with no
problems, and extra disk space as an added bonus.
