Thread: CYOW RW 22 location wrong in GPS Map

  1. Default CYOW RW 22 location wrong in GPS Map

Who do I cantact to get this fixed in FSX ? ( The problem was present with earlier versions as well. )

Attached is a screen shot showing the Offset errors in the Runway placement in the GPS display. The airplain is at the button of RW 22 at CYOW.

CYOW is my home, and it's right as far as I can see...

  3. Default Screen shot added to original posting

    Andy:

I live in Kanata, I added a screen shot showing the GPS display. RW 22 is offset from it's intended location.

This is visable when the GPS display is zoomed in. I also noticed that the offset moves with the location of the aircraft. I have not noticed this at other airports, although I admit I spend more time flying around CYOW.

Since posting I added your FSX Ottawa scenery as well. It's nice to get the landmarks back.

Well, take a look and you'll see that your heading in the shot is different than the heading shown by the GPS.

But I see what you're getting at. Most of the airports seem to have similar issues. When the GPS isn't zoomed in far enough, it just gives an approximation of the runway locations, but if you zoom in further, you'll see they get more precise, like in the screenshot I've attached.

    Glad you enjoy the scenery.
