Default New Computer Tell me what you think!

I just purchased a new Dell 8200 Series.
    Pentium 4

    Processor: 2.2GHz

Video Card: Memory: 512MB PC800 RDRAM
    128MB DDR NIVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4600

    Hard Drive: 80GB.

Will this setup be suitable for the FS 2002? Or is this an overkill? Wife is just about to kill me as I type.

Well everything is great on it right up until the point you said pc800 ram. You should have got a comp w/ ddr ram. Double Data Rate. correct me if i'm wrong on the translation. But it is suppose to dramaticly help your computer by not bottlenecking it in software mode games ie FS. That is why a $100,000 couldn't get you 100 fps no matter where you are in the game. If you had a 20ghz comp you would only need a GF3 b/c it wouldn't bottle neck. ya see where i'm going. That is why any game running in OpenGL can get you 100fps constant but Fs runs in software mode. well.. it's still a good comp i wish i would have been that smart to figure out the ddr is much better. but hey another year who knows... well... happy flying.

your pc800 rambus memory will work fine. That was what the penitum 4 processers were origionally designed to use for the best preformance!

Hey thats a great Setup. I just got done building an Intel P4 Northwood 2.0 Gigahertz and I have 512 Meg DDR-333 Ram, and a G-Force 4 4600ti. Frames rates are very good in FS 2002 normally 30 to 40 fps with everything maxed out with default aircraft even at crowded airports.

When I used 767 Pilot in command add on at Lax for example my frames dip down to the 20s, cause the panel is very complex. But everything runs super fluid so you will enjoy FS2002.

For those that wondering. The Resolution I used and got those frame rates at was at 1280x1024 res. Sound is off also since I am deaf. But all graphics were maxed with ATC at 33%.
