Default question about resolution (1600 x 1200 in particular)

hi. i'm wondering how you get 1600 x 1200 to be an available resolution on your computer.

i've got a PIV 1.3 GHZ, 512 MB RDRAM, Geforce 3 ti500 and a 19-inch monitor but i'm not given that high a resolution as an option - either on the desktop or in FS2k2.

don't get me wrong - the sim looks fabulous on my machine and i'm not complaining or anything. i just want to see what the difference would be. right now i'm running 1280x960 or sometihng like that.

any ideas?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-19-02 AT 05:45PM (EDT)[p]If changing the "properties" on your video card won't give it to you, then it may well be that your monitor is not capable of resolution that high. My 19" Viewsonic GS790 has a max of 1600x1200 with a 77 Hz refresh rate, and I can get that in both the desktop and FS, but many monitors of the same size (let alone smaller) won't do it. Check the manual on the monitor. If it says you can get that high, then it may be something in the video card, or it may be something in the specific drivers you are using, or you may need to change the refresh rate to one that allows that resolution.

thanks for the reply.
although, i must confess my ignorance to some of the issues you raised. i don't even know what the "refresh rate" is, let alone how to fidget with it.

i'll check the manual that came with the monitor, though, just for kicks. there may be something easy that i'm missing.

i'll also check the vid-card properties, if i can figure out how to do that... :D

hi

I am unable to get that 1600x1200 in 32 bit but i know my moniter can go up that far , a way around it would be to set your screen to 1600x1200 then run the sim in window mode (alt + enter , this also changes it back to full screen mode as well but u wont be able to fly it at the max res ) some users have said there is a slight speed increase running it in this mode compaired to the full screen mode .
