Hey all, i´ve never seen this. I´ve been flying FS2002 since it came out and never saw jets landing or taking of on 2 runways same time.

I set up a flight today and programmed the FMC for ~15 minutes. Then i rolled to the active runway (25L) for takeoff told be the ATC...there were 5 jets on front of me waiting and some jets landing. I had to wait for take off for about 20 minutes !!!

So while waiting i looked around in spot view and saw jets departing and landing on runway 25R (!) while we were waiting for takeoff at 25L (!) and there were also planes on approach for 25L AND 25R same time !!!!!! there was planes all over the place...

i took some screenshots than can hardly show how busy the airport was but there were 2 runways in use - no kidding !!!

You can see me with the PSS Airbus (3rd), a landed plane on 25L and a plane taking off at 25R

    Hello Claudius

Me too, I´ve never seen FS2002 doing this, though I often start my flights from EDDF. Depending on the weather conditions ATC allways told me and the other AI´s 7L or 25R as active. I´ve placed a lot of different aircrafts to EDDF additional to the default ones using TTools 1.2 so there usually is a strong delay before takeoff. I think the thing u describe above would decrease the delay. some questions on this:

    1. do u recognise the direction the wind came from ?
    2. at what time ( GMT ) did u set up this flight ?
    3. what about RWY 26L ( placed in the middle of 25L ), was it in use for landing ?

    thanks in advance, JPH

    well

1.) when i was told for departure from 25L wind came from 070 or so

2.) cant tell ya what GMT time but i think it was 2.30pm CET
    3.) RW 26L ??? - there is only
    18 (departure only)
    07R
    07L
    25L
    25R at EDDF .

    correct me if i´m wrong..
they are about to build a new runway north of the airport and that is supposed to be a "landing only" runway.

    greetings.

    To Claudius:

Thanks for your answer, I will try to set up the situation as u described, maybe i´ll see it for myself then...

yes, there is a 26L. When u look on the 1st picture of your post above you can see the ( red ) approach lights on the left side half the way down 25L. they are red cause of the view angle u took this picture from. whenever u have time for it, just do an approach to 25L, the view is better from there. this procedure is called "High Approach Landing System / Dual Threshold Operation" (HALS / DTOP). This was made because of the turbulences heavy aircrafts may cause and light aircrafts may come into trouble on approach since the distances between landing aircrafts have been reduced on approach in EDDF.

further information on this on the official EDDF-website:

    http://www.fraport.de/online/kapazit...ap_technik.jsp

it is german, but the pictures speek for themselves.

This soulution will remain untill the two new Runways ( i think they prefer the north-west-solution ? ) have been built.

    cu, Jean-Pierre

I had a "similar" thing happen landing at Atlanta (KATL) last night, with one exception. Planes were taking off and landing on the same runway from opposite directions! I flew an ILS to a parallel runway because I knew I would be told to go around because of all the traffic. I could see seven or eight planes lined up on each end of the runway and more being vectored into the mele'.

I had never seen this before. Has any one else seen this peculiarity?

    Hi,

Same subject but quite a different situation.

I was setting up an AI flight plan and arranged to be at the airport several minutes before the aircraft arrived on the second leg of three legs. I followed the AI aircraft out of curiosity since the take off time was less than half an hour away. (I ran most of the 1/2 hour at 2X time).

The active was runway 9. The AI took off on runway 5 which was not the active at all. It never parked and never shut down the engine.
