Thread: Why do they call it ACCELERATION Pack?

Default Why do they call it ACCELERATION Pack?

Well - got the pack, installed and activated with no problems, and while I had FSX running very well before, the FPS were down and THE STUTTERS WERE BACK - bigtime! Desperately turning on the DX10 Demo mode only made matters worse, with the nice blue sky color transitions, from light horizon to dark overhead, showing as solid horizontal bars.

I have been working hard to go through all my settings with little progress. Additionally, I find the new planes pretty on the outside, but with unsatisfactory panels - especially because of no 2-D.

I have never been whining here before during 10-12 years of flightsimming, but this time I am hugely disappointed. Remember the promises of DX 10 relieving the CPU, which was always the bottleneck, causing me to buy a whole new computer with Vista and a ridiculously expensive graphics card, and for what? Now we can only look forward to FS11, which will probably be designed for DX xyz, which will require a new, ridiculously priced graphics card to be fully utilized.

I will continue to try to find settings, that would show SOME improvement, but if unsuccessful SP2 will be uninstalled.

It is pretty ture that our computers are behind the times of flight sim. My computer isn't even acting that great with the expansion. My frames are okay, but I get weird video glitches that I had never recieved before. We'll see if anyone releases any tips about this.

They call it "acceleration" because it accelerated my freefall
into bankruptcy by 32.00 dollars. The marketers at Microsoft
    know what they are doing.

I deleted it. No 2D panels is unsatisfactory for me.
    Plus it killed my add-ons.

I'd be careful with any criticism of this product or FSX here. One of the residential self-proclaimed 'protectors' will no doubt weigh in with an opinion on how any fault of the product is YOUR fault. Obvously, you'll be told how you didn't follow directions with an install, or similar.

A quick check here, or on other forums, will quickly show this product is indeed laden with problems.

Indeed, and even introduced us to DX10's less than stellar AA and AF performance. This is the first title I've owned that doesn't allow forcing of AA and AF in the driver. Admittedly, I'm no FPS fan, but as AA/AF worked perfectly in DX9, what has so drastically changed that removed that all important function in DX10.

And I can't help but wonder what the testers saw when they activated DX10 on a qualifying video card.

    Oh, well, lesson learned.

I have no problem with the Acceleration pack. I chose to uninstall
it because the 2D panels and my present add-ons were more valuable
to me than the 3 new aircraft.

    Bill,

I couldn't agree with you more. Beware the iron fist. They are quick to slap you down and make you feel like you did all the wrong things when in turn it was the poor produced product at fault.

Yes I totally agree. I too spent a fortune to get a DX10 PC and Geforce GTX 8800. Why did I bother.

I gotta tell you guys hardware is key here. I have an X6800 Core 2 extreme chip over clocked with 4 gigs ram and 8800gtx with 768mb ram and i am getting 30 fps just about anywhere with all details maxed out except the water, that kills this system too. I am running xp pro sp2 and want to hear from others running vista with dx10 and what its like.
