Thread: Can't save Config file for Aircraft/Add textures

Default Can't save Config file for Aircraft/Add textures

    Adding Textures:

I am trying to add a new texture to the A321.

I can open the config file in notepad--but, even if I save it with .cfg tag I am unable to save the file with the added texture scripts in Vista.

Is there a way I can do this to add new textures? That seems to be the only bottleneck.

    Thanks

Ah, good old "UAC" (User Account Control) rears it's pug-ugly head again...

MS is so interested in protecting files from being screwed up by thoughtless idiots, that they've made it very, very difficult for anyone who actually knows what they're doing to get anything accomplished...

...which, given the circumstances might not have been a bad idea.

However, log into Vista as the Administrator and turn off UAC and DEP insofar as possible via the UI. This will allow you "permission" to access, modify or otherwise torture files... ;)

Post#3 by American149. Replace "Vista" with "7". 'tis the same permission issue. Alternatively, move the *.cfg to your desktop, edit/save and put it back...Don

Yes! Adjusting the UAC did it! I want to thank you for taking a minute to clue me in...lol

However when I select the plane to "fly"...I get this...

    "Failed to startup flight model"

    Now what?

It's a very old plane not designed for your FS version, possibly.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Exactly what plane? It's zip name and location will allow one of us to download and test, if it's a freebie...Don

Well..I noticed the icons at the bottom of the files download pages...indicating "complete files, etc"...and the one I downloaded was not complete. OK..I am learning...lol

    I appreciate your help immensely!

    Thanks!
