Default big question - Is there a planned patch for the SP1 patch.

obviously there are some bugs in the SP1 patch. Has anyone heard anything about a patch for the new patch. We could call it SP1.1 or something....

Hopefully there will be a quick follow-up with some fixes for the problems that have arisen with new patch.

I am getting better FPS, but I am getting less flight time because of lock up, or fatal error.

Aces/ Phil/ Microsoft has already announced that the DX-10 update this fall will also include a few updates for non-DX-10 computers.

    Do you mean:

Flight Simulator FSX version 10, Service Pack 1, Rev B

That's funny, but I am a little too cynical and say that FSX SP1 is the way FSX should of been at initial release, but that may be too harsh?

Not too harsh at all. The initial release should have been whatever we'll have after the yet-to-come-DX10-including-post-SP1-fixes patch is implemented. I still stand by my initial assessment made the week of the initial release - MS should be ashamed of themselves. (Have you seen all the tweaks suggested AFTER SP1 was released?)

Why should MS be ashamed of themselves. They are now following the common practice of releasing patches for there gaming software which other gaming studios have done for years. I remember one game called Sin which had about 12 patches to get it right.

Tweaks are not global for every single computer out there but may help those that have computers that can't run FSX as well as they would like it to.

I have 5 computers running FSX deluxe including a HP Laptop. I can safely say the each one shows FSX in different levels of display and FPS. Three out of five Computers use Phil's suggested tweaks and the other 2 don't need any tweaks at all.

For the skeptics out there, this paticular computer is a old Gateway 1500 Mhz ME machine with max 512k Ram. I installed a new XP OS, and a ATI 9700 pro vid card and it runs FSX/SP1/SDK ver "a" just fine. However I don't expect it to look like a high end machine and accept it's limitations in the display. I also write all my FS9/FSX code on this computer so I know what will work on this one will work on everyones system.

Now if you want to talk about a very high end machine well, I can do that also or anything in between.

My lastest computer (Mar build date) is a Alienware ALX duo Intel core 3.2 Mhz machine shipped with Vista. Its spec'ed with every possible high end piece of hardware possible including all the Ram that can be pack into it, GTX8800's and 1000 watt PS. Not one single tweak posted (including Phil's) makes this Computer look or run any better then what MS gave us with FSX/SP1.

Everyone should understand that tweaks posted may or may not help your Computer when running FSX/SP1. You should evaluate anyones post of a tweak that helped them but may not help you.

SP1 is not all about fixing FSX to run on every Computer out there in the same manner. It also addresses fixes that slipped past beta such as airplane switches not working or airports not showing ground textures properly etc. (read the SP1 Documents)

Some here on this forum need to stop pointing a finger at MS because on that same hand 3 fingers are pointing back at you. Do your part also so one day you too can enjoy FSX like some of us do without having to bash MS/FSX/SP1.

I hope there is patch for the patch!

After uninstalling FSX, reinstalling, and then the patch (per suggestions I read in a few sites), I would say my fps just about doubled.

However, when the plane crashes, so does the program. Get a black screen and then a fatal error message. Message says FSX is restarting--sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt.

Yes, as Ive said before Microsoft SHOULD be ashamed of the way they eagerly took the money, knowing the bugs existed. Im willing to live with FX without the new headaches of a patch. In another year, Ill can my copy of FX and just go out and buy a new copy to install with the CORRECTIONS. Im tired of trying to learn computer programing just to fly!

    Wad,

This is exactly what is happening to me.I thought that I had somehow done something wrong on the installation with SP1.I never had that problem before SP1,now it happens practically every flight.Your flying along, everything just right and then out of no where, the screen goes black, then up comes this warning that FSX has found a fatal error and is shutting down! Just like that, your out and finished.Wish there was a way to stop this.It kinda takes all the enjoyment out of the game when you know your not going to be able to complete a flight.
