Default Chile photographic scenery for FSX

    Hi

Have begun to download the files for Chile photographic scenery.

Has anybody tried this scenery or can tell me anything about it. I can't seem to find any write ups on it anywhere.

It's going to take at least a fortnight to download the files to this... 77 pages with about 9 files of about 30meg each on each page.

Would be great to hear a little about what its like and how it runs on FSX.

It is basically replacing the default landclass surface textures with Google Earth type aerial and satellite photos.

Would have been better to do new landclass, and much much smaller in file size.

But it is an excellent example / lesson for those who want to use Google Earth as a replacement for FSX surface textures.

Now there is an interesting project which has just come out - A Tile server - which is on demand downloads - that might be something to investigate.

Ah its OK, get up to 5000' and its looks pretty good, but the resolution doesn't sparkle at low elevation IMHO.

    to follow:

that project is called : TileProxy -
it is a good project - no question about that ! but -

with tileproxy - you do not get FS X photorealistic scenery format - !
the program only downloads bmp tiles - which is fs9 photorealistic format - with all the disavantages that comes with it -

FS X specifically designed photorealistic - is in a completely different League than photorealistic using bitmaps - and at present moment can only be achieved by hard hand labour !
