Thread: DC3 radio panel

  1. Default DC3 radio panel

I tend to fly around northern England in the DC3 and wish to use the radio panel for ADF. However, whilst I think I'm right in trying to tune to NDB's, when tuning to any NDB frequency, the needles remain fixed- even though I toggle between radio and adf. Are some of the NDB's not picked up by the DC3 radio, or am I tuning to the wrong thing? Are there any instructions on how to use it anywhere- there's none in FSX help (and there were none in FS9 help either!)
    Thanks, Norman

Is the NAV/GPS switch in the NAV position? Or maybe you're out of reception range.

    Hi,

Are you getting the frequencies from the FS/World/Map screen or your own charts? Confirm they are in FSX in the Map screen.

    Hope this helps,

Larry- you don't get the option of that switch with the DC3. The old style panel comes up, and the only options are Com1/Nav1, or Com2/Nav2. There is an old style toggle switch to select one or the other. There's also some other stuff i can reasonably guess at. It needs an instruction in help, really.
    Thanks, Norman

I'm getting the frequencies from FSX maps. Iv'e tried all the local NDB frequencies around NW Britain, and none make the adf needle work. I tried in FS9, and the only ndb that worked was Kinloss. I've found a lot of the vor's don't work in other aircraft either. All I can assume is that Microsoft have put a bare few throughout the rest of the world to cut down the program size. Either that, or I'm doing it all wrong, which would'nt surprise me!
    Thanks, Norman

    Hi,

Every NDB and VOR that I've found on the FS9 Map has been present in the sim. So either some addon is blocking most of your navaids, or you are not tuning them in correctly. Try using the default Cessna or other aircraft to test them.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for that- I tried it with the Cessna, and it worked, so I took off with the Dak, and it worked as well. Can't think why it did'nt happen before.
