Mcfly,
Daviangel mentioned that he updated .net and FSX deactivated on him, and said that he had another online activation coming, however that was lost into thin air after the .net update, so he had to activate by telephone.
I think the .net framework is important so I'd get it.
I have run Win ME for a few years, and I noticed that if you just update sequentially when the updates came out, that in the past it takes out the mouse, video driver (at least two times), and my WMP would no longer play ordinary music cd's for some reason. Any way, I corrected that problem by reinstalling, then carefully installed my updates, fully restarted on each round, then applied the .net framework, then lastly the WMP. Everything came out great. I'm just saying that some of these updates can cause strange problems and in my case w/ antique Win ME the whole thing worked better if I reinstalled, then applied all the updates again carefully and in a layered approach, at least that's what worked for me. I've never come across a disasterous XP update, so I guess we need to keep our fingers crossed.

Yes.

Nothing. .NET 3.0 is an extension to the existing .NET 2.0 - it does not change anything in 2.0, it just add a few extra libraries.
EditVoicepack for FSX will require .NET 3.0, but it is still some time away from a first release.
.Net v3 does nothing for FSX.
FSX is still Activated! So far, knock on wood.
