Thread: Elevator trim

  1. Default Elevator trim

    Hi

For some reason, in FSX, I am not able to adjust my elevator trim. The autopilot or something is doing it for me. I can look and watch the wheels turn for the elevator trim while the computer adjusts it. This may be ok, if only it would do it correctly! I am unable to adjust elevator trim myself, as anything I do is "corrected" by the computer or autopilot or whatever it is.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? The autopilot is not on. I cannot find any setting or option or control to make this happen, and it is darned annoying.

    Thanks

    What plane are you using?

In the Airbus, the automatic elevator trim is part of the normal plane control function, and would need to be switched off.

To do this, pull up the 2D overhead panel (shift-5), and toggle the switches on the left in the FLT CTL section.

It's a pity the FSX documentation is so short on the plane controls, that there are many subtleties like this which are not mentioned.

    Stewart.

    Thanks for the reply.

As it turns out, the problem was a setting on my Saitek X-52 controllor. I had one of the axis' set for elevator trim when I was experimenting, and forgot about it. Well, that axis overrode everything I tried. When I figured it out, everything worked perfectly.

    Thanks again though!
