    Hi,

Just update your ASv6 to ASv6.5. The update is at our website and is FREE. The program is the same, but will work with both FS versions.

    Thanks,
    Jim

You would think that Microsoft would have more than one actual weather server. The reason I know that they only have one is because the core Microsoft systems are redundant (in fact, they have two backup cores in my general area. One is in Irving, TX at their second largest headquarters... the other is right outside of McKinney, TX at the Millennium Park (core AT&T datacenter). Since that server is just a relay for Jeppensen, you would think that they would just move it to another box and setup an L4 switch so that the end users do not have to make any changes.

Cheers Tim! I put up a post myself about the very same thing! Got some answers...Not just you and I...others having the same problem...per the replies I guess the server has been down...we'll just have to keep trying or find some other server or software.

Ignore the shameless advertising for that overpriced product (which initially was free). The MS weather servers will be back up soon.

What a mature and intelligent response.

For those who *are* mature and intelligent, as someone said, the storms in the Northwest US raised havoc with a number of different companies servers, not just the MS weather servers.

Depending on the degree of reconfiguration that must be done to them, it may take a few days, but it WILL be back soon. There isn't a server on Earth that doesn't go down occasionally.

I paid for 2004 and got the 2004.5 update for free and can't see paying for asv6 when all I want is whats in 2004.5, I am happy with that.
It seems a little unfair for customers that have already paid for a product to get dissed because they didn't fork over another 40 for the newer version.
I really like the product but don't care for the way it is sold :(

    Hi,

    Sorry that you feel dissed.

In 2004 and 2005 ASV was offered for a discount and it was not 40 dollars. Then the update to ASv6 was free and the update to ASv6.5 is free.

ASV was a new product compared to AS2004.5 with a brand new code write and a switch to our private weather servers along with Active Radar.

So, since ASV, everything has been free.

    Thanks,
    Jim
