Default Very little FSX at Newest Files

    Hi All,
    Just wondering.
It seems to me that 90% of the "Newest Files" are still FS2004-files
after 2 months of FSX being launched...
It is rather quiet at this "front"!
Is that Strange, Amazing, Funny...or just a Fact.
Or could it be something else?

    Bye
    Bert

    Hi Bert,

You are right - and even the sparse offerings are below usual quality standards. I installed and removed a few airplanes and sceneries, always making sure that they do not leave "dirt" behind.
I assume that our gifted craftsmen need more time and experience to produce the quality we have taken for granted within FS9. FSX migration is problematic, there are always some residual problems. I am enjoying both FS9 (heavily addonized) and FSX (mostly pure) and I am patiently waiting for the real jewels to make their appearance later.

I have a bad feeling that FSX has a lot of developers, both freeware
and payware, stopped dead in their tracks. I hope I'm wrong.

Most of the freeware products are for re-paints of default aircraft
and substandard or easy to make add-ons.

Many of the major payware developers have become very quiet
and overly protective of any information regarding FSX releases.

Some of them are just outright rude to their customers asking
questions about future products. I've never seen an industry
where potential paying customers are treated with such disrespect.

Maybe FSX is just too big a mountain for them to climb?
I sure do hope I'm wrong.

I would really like some high quality, realistic add-ons for FSX.

Patience, they say, is a "virtue". I'm sure that with the complexity that came with FSX, it's going to take some time for the developers to get it all figured out. But, I believe that they will, and we will have some outstanding things to add to this already, IMO, excellent sim product.

You don't turn out quality aircraft in a couple of months, and MS just released a new segment of the SDK that should help developers in getting their models to work properly in FSX.

So it's not surprising that there's little out there for FSX, and what is out there seems to mostly be FS2004 aircraft with slight mods to accommodate FSX. There's a lot of work involved in developing new aircraft (and other add-ons, for that matter).

Whoa! The FSX SDK was just released. Give the kind folks who contribute so much to our flight simming time to digest what is in the SDK. Once they do so, I'm certain within weeks we'll see a goodly increase in the number of posted files to the library.

I'm just now getting to moving some aircraft into the FSX folder, and altering/updating panel files to work with FSX.

It will happen. Count on it.

FSD has updated two planes to FSX, Flight One's Archer is updated, Bill Lyons' Travel Air is updated, Barry Blaisdell's Socata TB20 and Turbo Beaver have been updated, and there may be others. It takes "WORK" to craft masterpieces. Give them a chance. Jack

Well if that is the case I hope they die with FS2004 then they dont deserver a penny from anyone. I wouldn't pay them for any of the airplanes, beside i dont think they would do it any better or different from any of the tallent freeware artist.

I hope the Freeware community that have been posting nice airplanes would able to fix the gauges problems to installed it into the FSX.
They got my vote to continue creating freeware.
    Out with the paywares.

I agree, though there must be a TON of work involved for a freeware designer to update.

Also, check out Kirk Olssen's (sp?) Viper update for FSX....now I have a fast plane hehe

you'll need usviper.zip and viperupx.zip and you can use the awesome PW sounds if you want: f-16-pw200_the_real_deal_version_2.zip or just search for Christoffer Petersen

Gee captdoodad, I'm glad to see that you are talented enough and have all of the hours available it takes to learn how to do the development and publishing of anything for FSX. I'm sure we will all await your first freeware effort, and cheer when you produce it!

Oh, you can't do that, you say?? Then don't knock the pros. Jack
