Cant start FSX

Hi all,
Ive just purchased my copy and installed.After rebooting I try to start FSX and I get this message "Flight Simulator cannot run because the version of MS DX installed on your computer is incompatible" I have tried reinstalling DX9 from the DVD as well as a complete uninstall and reinstall????? Please help...Bart

Get current DirectX from MS website.

Hi,
I have reinstalled DX from the FSX DVD,no good problem is still there.

Ive now tried installing on all different hard drives as it was installed on the same drive as FS9 but I get the same error no matter where I install it??? I cant believe im the only person in the world that has had this problem??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Wow Bart, I'm sorry no one has any help for you on this problem...I can't understand what's going on there...

Have you tried updating your video card drivers SINCE you reinstalled DX9c? That might be the culprit.

Yes,I upgraded them yesterday,still the same problem.I have done a search of the web and did find this,although Im not sure if this relates to me, as all I have done is a simple install and nothing like what is mentioned,it does make mention of the EXACT error that I am getting.

I know this is something everyone hates.... but (deep breath), have you tried a format of the HD and start with a fresh OS install??

I think that that would probably fix the problem,but obviously its a VERY last resort.I was hoping to use the hundreds of years of FS experience here to solve the problem if at all possible.
