    Default Active Camera and FSX

Hello all. Long time reader, first time poster. I've absorbed an enormous amount of knowledge from flightsim.com and all of you here, so thank you all in advance. I would have remained silent still soaking in what you have to say, but I had to ask:

I love FSX, but miss viewing instant replays of my landings from a rear passenger seat like I can in some of the addon aircraft with cabins in FS9 using active camera. I've transfered over a couple aircraft and would once again like to take a trip to the rear and enjoy the ride. I thought I may have to wait for an Active Camera upgrade before I can once again move around in the cockpit and outside my aircraft, however, in reading an excellent review by Andrew Herd, here at Flightsim.com, I noticed that in a couple screen shots he had positioned his camera in the center of the cockpit, and even behind the pilots seats. Is there a way to move about the plane in FSX. I'm not talking about pushing the "A" key for views, but actually moving about, turning around going into the cabin and having a view from a rear passenger seat? If there is, this newb hasn't found it and would love for someone to explain how, or at least to show how Mr. Herd accomplished his views as is depicted here:

    Thanks again for your time.

    Side note for your info:

As for the aircraft I've been able to transfer over successfully, well here's the list so far:

Aero Commander, ac520v31.zip by Milton Shupe

F/A 18E Super Hornet, fa18e_sh.zip by TEAM FS KBT

Rockwell 500, ac500sv.zip by Paul Saunders, Scott Thomas, Andre Folkers and Milton Shupe.

Beechcraft Twin Bonanza, twin_bon.zip by Eric Dantes

AND..the Spartan Executive, spartan.zip by milton shupe, Scott Thomas, and Urs Burkhardt, although I get guage errors on load with this plane, it still works.

    Hi Thomas!

Well, the only way i've found to move the view-point is pressing the space bar once we are in spot view, wing view or VC view...then with the mouse we adjust the view distance..i tried to go out of the cockpit, but i found it has a limit..i mean, i think we cant walk to the cabin, maybe im wrong..anyways, the new view system is amazing, so many possibilities and with our talented group of developers, im sure we'll see some improvementes regarding this matter.

Thanks for the info regarding birds imported from FS9, very helpful (love the Milton and company creations)

    Take Care :D

Thanks for the response Carlos, I'm glad you noticed my question because I know you're an expert when it comes to screen shots. Do me a favor will you Amigo? Click on the link I provided in my original post and check out the first VC screen shot he provides in that review. It's a picture of the VC of the default Airbus in FSX, notice where the camera is positioned? How on earth did he do that? I've tried everything. =) Thank you for responding to my post bro.

Oh..its kind of similar to this one i took yesterday:

Anyways...first you set the distance, back and forth until you are happy (you can do it pressing space bar and the mouse wheel)..then to move right until centered, press control/shift/enter...and to the left control/shift/backspace...also you can move up and down, back and forth...but as i told you, we have a limit....For FS9, besides activecamera, the folks of Flight 1 gave us some freewarw utility called Flight1 view...i dont know if it works in FSX, will try it!

Awesome, the Ctl/shift/enter is new to me. Thanks so much for your time Carlos, you've been more then helpful, however you screen shot, although beautiful, is not as far back as Mr. Herd has managed to get in his aircraft, I'm sure it's just user error on my part, there's got to be a way. Mr. Herd also mentions in his review,

"Incidentally, in my quest to find out where the frames were going, I took a peek behind the cockpit door to see if there was a virtual cabin and there isn't one; none of the other jets have one either, so if you were expecting virtual stewardessess, you are going to have to look elsewhere."

I'd like to know how he took a peek behind the cabin doors. I've emailed Mr. Herd directly, as he listed his e-mail addy in his review, I'll let you know if he writes me back with an answer.

Still no response from Mr. Herd, I imagine he's a really busy person. Anyway, anyone found out how to get the camera into the cabin of an airplane yet?

This will depend if the aircraft has been modeled with a cabin. Most of the default planes do not. There is the VC, but nothing more.

    Hey Slarente,

Yeah the airplane does have to have a cabin, and I've been able to transfer a few of the awesome shareware planes with cabins over to FSX, my question was whether or not someone knows how to get the camera into the cabin area, like you can with active camera in FS9. I'm a sucker for watching takeoff's and landings through instant replay from a rear cabin seat. I'm beggining to think this is not possible, however Mr. Herd said that he was able to check behind the doors in the default planes, and he's been able to get his camera into positions for his screen shots that I've been unable to get to. =)

    Hi again Thomas :D

    I've just taken this pic:

I went back to the cabin using control/enter...then move to the right or left, up or down using control/shift/enter and shift/enter

Hope this is what you are looking for my friend!

    Best Regards
