Install..or NOT Install, that is the question.

I bought FSX yesterday. I took it home to "Sit On It" for awhile until the dust settles on this forum and the Good News starts to outweigh the Bad News.

Last night I finally lost control and "Opened" the box to see what was inside. Now I "OWN" it! Can't take it back if I wanted to. There is a handy "Quick Reference" booklet in the box with little flying tips in case you forget. Example: HOW TO LAND: "Reduce Power: Move the throttle back......" "Lower flaps"... and more!

Actually, it's not a booklet at all but a stiff paper foldout thingy.

My machine is Only a P4 3.0Ghz, 800Fsb, 1.5Gb RAM and a Radeon 9600XT 128 Mb. I still have over 80 Gb of HD left.

What to do?? It's so depressing. SPOFF

Why wait?

You can always uninstall it if you don't like it.

For what it is worth you will have to turn down the sliders with that graphics card but it is still worth trying IMHO.

This may be a silly question but if all you wanted to do was stick it on a shelf why buy it.

Anyway what bad news? Its a great improvement over FS9. My guess is whatever your rig you'll still get a better experience than before!

Put That Puppy On Your Machine And Let's Get The Party Started!

Your computer is good enough to run FSX. Going to have to do
some tweaks.

I love FSX. I just flew from Kadena AFB, Okinawa to Tokyo, Japan
in the 747-400 and the frame rate did not drop below 16FPS.
Now, some of the whiners say that is not acceptable, but on my
machine it is smooth and very enjoyable.

My frame rate is locked at 22. In the air I get 22FPS anywhere in
any aircraft.

When I land at a large airport it drops to around 8-15FPS with
just a touch of jerkiness.

Most of my sliders are to the right of center, so I could tweak
mine down a bit and improve the FPS.

You will love FSX, don't listen to the negative comments.
