Thread: FSX or update FS 2004 scenery

Default FSX or update FS 2004 scenery

My personal questions before buying FSX….

In other words, here are a couple of my MSFS pet peeves.

    1. Record an instant replay? (this allows you to change views etc. during the recording.)

    2. Scenery isn't very good. Is FSX's scenery going to be better than the best add-on I can get for FS 2004. (not talking about photo realistic scenery)

    3. Don't want to have to buy add-on to land on a carrier.

    4. Very unrealistic skidding on take offs and landings. Airplanes don't slide at an 80 degree angle just because of a 15 knot wind. Especially when on moving at 25 mph. If they would, it would be tumbling not sliding.

Without the above improvements it is the same as what I already have.

I would like to see some screen shots of this ATC looks like. What am I going to be looking at if I wanted to give this 'being an air traffic controller' a try? If that was pretty good I'd get it regardless. Or do you have to buy an add-on to do that?

Here's a couple of pictures to compare FSX demo with FS9 at the same location ( after taking off from TAPA.

Don't think there is any FS9 addon that can give you what FSX does with regard to ground textures.

1M textures look so Good even a this low altitude

OK! I'm convinced as far as the scenery is concerned. Any news on my other issues?

    Thank you

Well, there are carriers available in the default FS9, so I assume they will still be there in FSX. And there is a freeware carrier available already for FSX in the flightsim libraries...

    Hi,

That is tropical water you see there. Other places have darker water. It's all blue though. No gray or brown water that I've seen.

    Hope this helps,

How's this for gloomy water? This is from the demo, so its the Carribean, but its reflecting the nasty weather:

Before trying this flight,my experience with the demo made me feel,
for the first time I was going to skip a FS release

Not now ...just put my order in for FSX these static and compressed pictures only show part of the change

Try the flight ..take off from TAPA RW25 fly runway heading for a mile or so then repeat it with FS9... I,m sold :)

There is brown water in FSX. I got it to appear at KDCA on the potomac. Weather dependant.
