Default whay this is so neglected microsoft !!!?

I am surprised that microsoft team did not address the unreallistc
point of view of the cockpit in relation to the runway, and surprise
not read any post regarding this matter,as for me when taxing the
runway looks from cockpit so low as if i were walking, i really wish
microsft pay attintion to this issue and fix it.

It sounds as if you've never actually been in a real cockpit while taxiing. The viewpoints provided are quite "realistic" for the most part.

When sitting in the 747 for example, one gets the impression of sitting some 30 odd feet off the ground... :)

It helps to use 75% zoom, that gives a much more realistic view out of the cockpit.

Define "realistic." In real life, I don't view the world through the arse end of a telescope, so why would I want the sim do look like that?

For the sake of peripheral vision possibly? Before I got my TrackIR, I typically would run the VC at 75% magnification to give some peripheral view. You have to make some adjustments when you're trying to simulate 150 degrees of vision on a 19" monitor. Actually, in FS2002, I remember the view would jump from 100% directly to 50% which is definitely fish-eye. So, one of the recommendations I sent to FS at their email address was for varying degrees of zoom. I also asked that the VC pan be scaled to the zoom level. In FS2002, the pan was a uniform unit no matter what your zoom level which at 1x zoom was fine but when trying to track a distant plane at 120x zoom jumped too far away. Both of those features showed up in FS9. What do you know, they do listen.

You don't actually get a better "peripheral view" at all. The only effect is that everything outside is scaled to be "further away," which effectively creates the "illusion" of greater "peripheral vision" only. You still "see" nothing more of the outside view on either the left or right sides.

What it does do is make it extremely difficult to judge distances and angles... ;)

Does that mean I never use the zoom? Of course not... when flying low and slow and I want to check out the scenery...

But, for precision VFR flying I never use anyting but 100% in either 2d or VC views.

The view seems fine to me, but in answer to your question...

    It's a computer monitor, not a window.

75% zoom is not quite to the fisheye level yet, and at least to me it feels a bit closer to sitting in the plane. You feel as though you are actually racing down the runway, and I think it does add a bit of perip. vision, even if it's not much.
