    Default Yoke Removal in the VC

    Hello, it would be nice to have the option to remove the yoke while in the VC. Sometimes the yoke isn't in the way, but other times it is. Some payware companies use this and it works great. I figure it wouldn't be too tough to implement, if not already done so ;)

    Yes I totally agree. Having the option to simply click the yoke or a hot spot on the yoke, while in VC mode, to enable display/hidden modes would be VERY good. I know, sometimes, on the default 737 the HSI is obscured by the yoke, and on aircraft such as the default Baron 58, the many switches are not fully accessible in VC unless you manuveur the yoke into some extreme position.

    While we're on yokes and VC's, I'd just like to say that I have been an avid supporter of the 2D panel being top priority over the VC. However, lately I have come to truly appreciate the VC. It adds a degree of difficulty and spatial-awareness that I wouldn't have. It makes me appreciate the aircraft even more! I had a totally different opinion of all the Default aircraft when i started sitting in the VC's. They're just beautiful and give a greater feel of "being there". Though there are a few major kinks the MSFS team should work out for FSX.

    First..the VC, in most if not all the aircraft I have used seems to be horribly out of alignment with the true aircraft Center Line. For instance, I would line up on the runway for take off, assuming the runway center line runs a chord through the center of the VC with my head facing foward (Left Seat). This makes sense right? It makes sense that the Front Nose Gear is located somewhere directly underneathe the center pedestal housing right? however once i switch to Spot view i notice that I am horribly off center. Oddly enough the VC seems to have no true Lateral (left-right) translation. It's very odd and sort of difficult to explain but basically all Im asking is PLEASE fix this so we have a true VC view with VC camera point agreeing with the SEAT you're in and the aircraft's Center Line along the fuselage (roll axis.

    The only other thing, which i believe has an FS9 .cfg remedy, is some better modelling of the "virtual head" movement and panning. It's not easy..maybe if we had a 3D mouse or those TrackIR glasses, but panning with the hat switch is some what robotic. Perhaps what we need are "pre-coded" tracks for the head movement which have a "rubberband" or "pull-back" effect. In other words... if you are in the VC, sitting in captain seat, and wish to stare at the Overhead panel you need simply push the Hat switch BACK and LEFT, the camera will move along a prescribed track with a speedy more humanly articulation. While holding the hat switch in this direction you can go ahead and click or check whatever on the Overhead and then simply release the hatswitch and your head moves back along a reverse path back to proper foward view. This could offer two VC view modes "Free roam" which is what we're used to (simple panning rotations and moving foward/backward side-to-side) and "Quick" mode which uses the aircraft designer's pre-recorded and stored head movements mapped to the hat switch. Of course if you're in the FO seat then "Quick" mode would have to know this in order to produce mirrored movements or use the designer's tracks for FO seat.

    That's a little similar to what happens in the 2D panel when using a hat switch; click left and hold to look left, then release and your view point switches back to forward. In the VC it would be more involved, involve tracks and there would be some realistic articulation of the virtual head/camera.

    Hmm, interesting...about the location of the center line in the VC...in real life, the nosewheel/taxiway centerline should run between the middle of your right knee, assuming you are flying left seat...that's how it was for me in the Piper Warrior. So, it's not exactly in the center of the plane as you would think. :)

    It's a trivial matter for the developer to code the yoke with a 'clickspot' to hide/unhide it...

    Yes..really? Hmm i've never sat in the left seat of any plane. I've only sat in the right seat on some charter flights when i was younger but was too excited to notice this. You are right though, its not perfectly through the center of the plane. What do you think of a Larger/wider aircraft than the Piper Warrior, do you think, say in the 737, that the nosewheel/taxiway centerline view in FS9 VC is correct or does it still seem somewhat off?

    I have problems landing and taxing in VC view using the larger aircraft because I just feel disconnected and askew from what the aircraft nosewheel is tracking over the ground and what I see out of the cockpit windows in the VC. ( I need more practice too! )

    Well I feel it is generally accurate. You may feel that way about the default VC's because they lack the detail that some of the payware ones have. Try out PMDG's 737 series...and see if you feel any difference.

    I know what you mean though, about beind discoed... In general, when flying airliners, just try to be a little to the left of the runway centerline if you're flying left seat and vice versa :)
