Thread: Hoping for less "cartoony" style gauges

Default Hoping for less "cartoony" style gauges

I'm wishing for default airplane gauges that more look like the R22's...the gauges are a much different style and the R22's set was a great change in pace from the old FS98/2000/2002 basic gauges
    :)
I'm not asking for RXP style vector gauges in a base product, but hopefully the intro that the R22 made in 2004 will be a sign of things to come in FSX :) :) :) ;)

I wouldn't go as far as to say they look "cartoony," because I think most of the gauges look pretty good (check out some of the gauges I've made if you want to see cartoony!)

But a number of the classic aircraft from the most recent version, such as the DC-3 are quite impressive. I wish I could create artwork like that!

I do agree the '98 gauges are out of date, interestingly I found that some of the gauges from FS-5.1 actually looked better than the FS-98 ones. But still nowhere near the quality of even the basic Cessna gauges from 200/2/4.

Yeah I was talking about mostly the cessnas, baron etc...the newer (or older, depending on how you look at it) planes like the historical ones are fine, I guess I should have clarified that oooops!

To me even the ones for the Baron and stuff look good. The default FS-98 gauges didn't seem to use any anti-aliasing in their creation, and they were the ones that were a little cartoony.

    I've liked everything since then.

The style doesn't look quite right, compared to the R22, or DC-3/etc, it could be improved on...

Maybe we'll just have to 'agree to dis agree' here :)

Yeah I suppose, in any case, it's Microsoft's decision to do what they want :)

The same artist who did work on the FS 2004 aircraft has been working on FSX's panels...

    :)

    That's awesome. :-)

It's about time you guys put that in. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to watch Veggie Tales while shooting an ILS down to minimums. ;-)
