    Default FS Views, Spot View Menu: Remember gradual transition setting

    Here's a minor one that's annoyed me through each FS version, and it concerns the Spot View menu, and the option for a "gradual transition" as you move around the aircraft in spot view. I do not like a gradual transition, so I uncheck the box. However, FS does not remember this setting, and I wish it would, as everytime I go to take screen shots I first have to uncheck this box.

    Please, MS, find a way for FS to remember this setting. Thanks. :-)

    Hi Lou,

    That one you can do.

    Navigate your FS9 folder/Flights/Other/then right click the FLTSIM Icon and open with notepad. Then scroll down to

    (Window.1)
    ///////
    //////
    SpotFastTransition=False <------ Change that to True

    You can do the same with the MEIGS Icon, but I always load the Seattle as my default. I'll assume you do the same.

    Once you make this change and start from the Seattle C172S default Flight, no matter which Aircraft You 'change to, the steady spot view will remain.

    A lot to go through, but thanks. I still think FS should remember the last setting, don't you think?

    Takes about a minute.

    That's one of the first things I did when I got FS9. Never have touched it again ....It still hasn't forgot.

    FS has to remember to reset to slow transition when you reload an aircraft (false setting), so just tell it to remember fast transition (True Setting).

    If you've set GT off in your saved (default) flight it stays off 'till you turn it on.

    I'll go for that and here's a couple I want...

    For cripes sake make the tower view at THE AIRPORT the aircraft is landing at--not 2,000 miles away with that ridiculous zoom effect. In fact I'd like a switch just to turn that view off,I could then use it when I want to use it.

    When switching to spot view QUIT lowering the view downward (altitude) to the default setting,If I have it set at 20 feet then LEAVE it at 20'

    Yeah I agree. Sure you can make a hundred changes in the .cfg file if you happen to remember the syntax for the change.

    Most of these changes are simple no-brainers that MS could build in or have a button in the "settings" in FS10.

    that woud be nice Lou

    I HATE with a passion, the smooth transition. Gotta fix the cfg when i get the chance.

    I just uncheck it and save it with my default flight, then it is never on again unless I load a 'select a flight' from the menu

    Weird, the few times I've disabled gradual transition I've always had to manually set it back.

    I LOVE gradual transition, the only time I go with fixed is for occasional screenshot reasons, or if I've got kids playing the sim who want to fly from outside.
