Thread: fs10 engine

  1. Default fs10 engine

    I wonder if microsoft will use the Unreal 3 engine or develope it's own. I think the unreal engine would be best.

    They'll probably continue to update the existing engine, it's been in use for a quarter of a century :)

    I doubt the Unreal engine would serve, considering how much more complex FS is and how much more data it has to process (almost) simultaneously, and the different way that data MUST be processed to show the whole world.

    It's not a GAME, in the programming sense, even though you can use it that way if you wish. It's more an actual simulator (within the hardware limitations, of course), so it doesn't contain just a bunch of pre-programmed scenarios to replicate -- it has to run the entire world and a large gamut of aircraft and scenery.
