Thread: Gauge finder/copier for FS9

    Default Gauge finder/copier for FS9

    Hello Designers,

When making panels you quickly loose track of all the cabs and gauges involved. Does anyone know of a utility for FS9 that wil sort this out and copy the gauges so they can be uploaded without forgetting a few?

    Thanks for your effort,

The only one I'm aware of is FS Panel Studio, and its "Panel Export Tool."

"There may be times when you'd like to collect, in one place, all the files used to create a Panel -- both the background bitmaps and the Gauges themselves. This is useful as a first step for creating an archive of files, or for sharing your Panel.

The Destination Directory is where the files will be placed. The Exclude standard Gauges option, when turned on, will prevent "standard" Gauges from being copied. The list of standard Gauges contains all the Microsoft supplied Gauges in FS98, CFS/2, FS2000/2 Professional and FS2004. All other Gauges will be copied to the destination directory.

When you select OK, all of the Panels' Gauges and bitmaps, and the panel.cfg file, are copied to the destination directory. The current files are unchanged."

I usually use my panel.cfg as a checklist and one by one drag and drop the associated gauges and cab files in my upload zip.
When I think I'm done I unzip it into a virign secondary FS installation and test it to see with mine own eyes if all was included. Mostly I find some strangeness to do with missing dll modules or ini files that gauges call upon and am so reminded to include those also. Tedious but nevertheless quite efficient in the end.

    Hi folks,

    I found 2 utilities findgau and gaufinder/copier.
Not really much and not for fs9. They compute a list that you can select with Ctrl A and and put in a document. I have no idea if the list is complete. It is a start.
This FS panel studio sounds nice. I may go for that.

FS Panel Studio is one of the best investments in software I've ever made! ;)

The ability to "edit" C gauge graphics is a big plus, as is the ability to create or edit XML gauges... ;)

    Hi
    I use gcopy5.zip Gauge Copier for CFS, FS98 and FS2000 version 3.0
works ok with fs9.Have no idea where I found it,It only works with gau files not xml/cab gauges but it duz list them which means you at least know their name and can dig em out.It reads the panel.cfg and gives you a list of all gauges which you can then copy over to a different folder.
    Cheers
