Thread: National Airlines "Sun King"

    Default National Airlines "Sun King"

    All painters,

I want to congratulate you all on the fine work you have done on this wonderful aircraft. It's great to see many of these old liveries come alive. I particularly want to thank Paul for the Eastern and TWA twin globe liveries, and Mike Mahat for the retro AA -100. Flying those planes in and out of LaGuardia is like stepping into a time machine. Lot's of great memories!

While I certainly understand there is a long list of requests and many deserving liveries to be done, if anyone is inclined to paint a National Airlines "Sun King" -200 it would be greatly appreciated! Having never painted an aircraft myself I certainly can't do it, so I figured a request was worth a shot. Thanks in adavance for any consideration you may give this.

Lou, this additional livery may not result in another purchase, you already got mine, but who knows, there may be some other "old timers" out there like us who love the nostalgia!

    Thanks for the fantastic product!

    Lou,

Sorry about the banner. Tried to kill it but can't. Do whatever you need to fix it. I owe you a drink - or ten!

Edit - it seems to have fixed itself. I'll still make good on the drinks though.

I'm working on two versions of National Airlines for both the -100 and -200.

Will keep all who are interested posted.

    Rich,

Great news and thanks! Looking forward to both. Which versions are you doing, the almost all white fuselage or the aluminum belly? I love them both but am just curious. And if you are putting some names on the side for the "fly me" campaign pick some good ones:)

That's great. Thanks! The Sun King livery is one of my favorites.

    Just a heads up.

I may do several variants as long as I can find the correct photos for reference. I don't want to do every registration National had either. Most likely there will be 2 for the -100 and 2 for the -200.

Another thing I want to let you all know is there will be a delay in releasing these liveries. Right now I'm extremely busy with another project (job related) and I'm trying to meet a client’s deadline for the first week of February. In between I'll try and work on the liveries and release them as I finish them.

    Regards,
    Rich Rodriguez

PS: If you like in the meantime you can fly my National DC-10's from Avsim.

    Rich,

Thanks for the update and looking forward to your release when you can get to it. Good luck with the work project. By the way your DC-10's are awesome. I have been flying them for some time. I just need something from National for the short haul flights. :)

If I could find a realistic DC-10 flight deck, I'd be all over it. Nice model tho...
