FS9 crashes when I try loading 727(?)

I trust everyone has had an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas. Briefly, I'll start by saying that I am no stranger to flight simulation as I've been simming from the start and I've been flying the 737 on most of my routine flights. However, I'd resisted going over to FS2004 as I've been more than happy with 2002.

Anyway,I purchased 2004 and installed the upgrade mid December. On Boxing day I downloaded and purchased the 727. Loading of the programme went fine. I started FS2004, into aircraft select, 727s appeared - I selected one any one of them. The machine took its normal time to load up the aircraft.

...Then the programme (FS2004) turns its self off. I tried again numerous times. I then resorted to remove and re-install all programmes. Still the same problems occurs.

I've scanned through the boards but I couldn't find anyone with the same issue.

If anyone could kindly advise or point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Hello there. Did you load the default cessna172 first? If not load it first, then once you are in that cockpit, then access the menu at the top, then load the 727. This seems to fix most problems people have. Give it a shot and report back. Good luck. Best regards, J.Moss

There has also been a rash of scenery-related CTDs showing up...most have been attributed to add-on scenery or landclass files so far...and of note: the switchover to Winter in FS was 21 Dec.

Another possibility is that the FS 9.1 update did not install properly (check the DLL version numbers) and you're seeing the old winter scenery CTDs that plagued FS9 prior to the update. Also, MS says that if you are using one of the no-CD hacks, it's likely that some of the improvements made in the patch will not work.

Did you install the 727 on the same system that you downloaded it from or download it from another system, save to CD, then install on a different system?
