    Default 727-200 Fuel

    Hi

    Does anyone know where I can obtain fuel usage tables for the 727, both
    100 and 200 series. Also, has anyone compared the real figures to our superb DF727.

    My need is to be able to calculate trip fuel requirements as close as possible.

    Thanks

    Hi, everything you need was included with the product and is located in the QRH, as well as in documentation posted here on the forum. It's all pretty dead-on, too.

    You might find this site useful, though...and fun.

    Hi Cory

    Thanks for your reply and pointing towards the FedEx Manual

    Apart from that, I cannot find DF documents that support fuel consumption, have I missed then somewhere?

    Best regards and seasonal greetingd

    Bob.. tables in the FedEx doc (hyperlink above) have lots of FF numbers for various LRC's, MN's, Weights, and Alts from high to low. The DF727 FF gauge should read close to the RL tables during cruise.

    If you have FSNav and enter the appropriate data in the INI file, or even {enter data} prior to each flight by editing the pulldown fields, it will return some pretty accurate end-to-end fuel totals. You can always make up a SS as well. :)

    So how does one know what data to enter into FSNav? The cruise FF can be found in the FM tables as mentioned. For climb, a MEAN climb FF can be found. Any climb segment can be analyzed for that matter. Descent FF can be determined easily as well.. just observe during your next flight. :)

    Here's a test in the 727 FD to determine climb FF. It's a manual climb with stick, manual trim, and manual throttles at ~145,000 lbs GTW. You could certainly do better with AP or FMS. The climb phase is evident as is the `throttle cut' {averaged} region when entering the `cruise' phase.

    * Climb FF with Polynomial curve

    * Tapers to Cruise FF (see FM tables)

    * Find Descent FF

    Some typical FSNav input data:
    Code:
    *Boeing 727*
    climbfuel=      19250 // 18500
    cruisefuel=      8250
    descentfuel=     3250

    The following chart displays some actual 727 FD end-to-end total fuel
    usage records. They include head/tail-winds and terminal area routing
    with typical Pax load.

    Thanks for your help. Did you produce these reference charts yourself or are they from a software program.

    I have recently purchased FOC (Flight Operations Centre) which is fantastic but with a high learning need. I have a 'starter file' for the DF727 but it needs fine tuning. Currently, with TOW of 152000lbs at FL350 on a 500NM flight end to end, the overall consumption is short of the calculated plan by around 3000lbs.

    Any further input from you would be gratefully accepted.

    Best regards and merry christmas
