The following remark came from a customer at another developer's forum, as they are also doing the same plane we are.
"Perhaps it's DreamFleet who should be ditching products that won't stack up"
BTW, I do not hold this immature, uninformed comment against the developers who host that forum, and we wish them well with their Baron 58, as I am sure it will compliment ours. We can't always catch everything that gets posted. Ultimately it provided a good excuse for a sneak preview of just what is holding up production of my Piper Dakota! I always like an excuse to preview ahead of schedule at our forum, for those who of you who are so kind to visit here.
Nah..... I don't think we'll "ditch" it, and besides, what I'm showing is just the "tip of the iceberg"!
Composite screen shot of the 2D left and right instrument panels. Yeah, it looks almost just like the A36, just as it does in real life!
Our Baron is based on 1999 and 2000 models that we had access to. We even had a 1981 model to compare the differences to.
The pilot, of course, is out of the cockpit taking the photograph.
Development of the Baron 58 started at the same time as the A36, in June of 2004, and we planned it to follow the A36. The idea to do it was Mikko's, and he surprised me with a model that was so advanced during the summer of last year, that all I could say was: "Okay, let's get the A36 out first". So while this may come as a surprise to the FS community, it's been on our hard drives for a long time!
Hey, we're allowed a surprise now and then, right? I mean, considering how much the 36 and 58 have in common, did anyone really thing we would not do the Baron? After all, it was my favourite default aircraft to fly in FS2002 / 2004.
That's Reality XP's new Sandel 3308 you see, along with their GNS530, GMA340, and GTX327, and the ADI you see just above the 3308, is not quite the same one that was in the A36 either! ;-)
Oh, and I recall after the release of our A36 a lovely woman posting here inquiring about why we did not offer a female pilot option in the external aircraft model. Well, if you know me when it comes to women, you know I listened! Mikko didn't like the extra work, but...
More previews and news to follow next week, and even more after that!
Then, Mikko WILL get on to my Dakota plus two other Pipers, and there's also Owen Hewitt, "straining at the leash" for an announcement of what he is working on. :-)
Regards,
