Whidbey Tower, Beech 865 Echo Foxtrot is 8 miles southeast, 6300 feet, Mayday, Mayday, Mayday. I have lost most pitch control. Full elevator movement seems OK, but trim locked full up. Request immediate landing, runway 25.
Runway 7 was active, wind light, controller cleared traffic. Landing was successful with full forward elevator (a lot of pressure), and darn near full power. It wasn't pretty, but nothing broke, no one hurt. I was on auto-pilot doing a couple screen shots when it first occured. I tried trim changes across the board. At one point, I thought I had it balanced - then full up again.
What happened? - don't know, but I have enough time in the A36 to be pretty sure Lou's piece of artwork wasn't at fault. That's why this isn't on the tech support forum. I have a Saitek X52 controller. I found later that I had elevator trim set at two places, one was the small rotary on the throttle, the other on the upper hat on the stick. Maybe I hit the rotary on the throttle and didn't realize it. I've deleted that assigment and re-ran the flight. Outside of a beautiful Flight Environment sunset, the flight was uneventful.
