Thread: How not to fly the 727!

  1. Default How not to fly the 727!

    Hi

    I flew to Innsbruk last night, and now I'm stuck there 'cause I buckled my nose gear on my shiny new 727!

    I put together a rough vid of the landing which shows that most amatuer of errors of overcorrecting a steep descent too close to the runway

    If you want to have a look its here (10mb wmv file)

    It's also of subtle appraisal of just how useful TrackIR3 is in a good VC, such as the Dreamfleet 727.

    If you have never been there, Innsbruk is great (LOWI) especially with a terrain mesh of some sort. Try taking off on 26 and turning 180 deg left. The mountains just seem to grow infront of you!

    Cheers

    That`s a really cool video! One of the few where you get the odd feeling that this looks real! Apart from the touchdown that is :)
    Hope you get the nosewheel fixed soon!

    I thought you were supposed to land nosewheel first :7

    Well, the gear is repaired.

    The FAA insisted I do a few circuits of Innsbruk to proove airworthyness (can't think why!). The weather was filthy, and this landing is a continuous stream of 'windshear', 'whoop whoop pull up' and 'glideslope'. I'm sure you can hear the co-pilot reaching for the parachute at one point!

    It's 20mb this time;

    I've just noticed that the APU door is open. I must read that manual again to find out how to close it!

    Excellent video presentation. Boy, would you have been hammered by maintenance if that was real.!
