Nice photos Lou :) Gotta love that plane!
Nice photos Lou :) Gotta love that plane!
Cool! I'm really looking forward to this one. Good to see ya, Lee...and Julie, of course.
I'm not sure about that "soon to be a legend" stuff - I think Lee already is. :) I am surprised he's taking a break from the "big iron" to drop in on us "GA" guys.
Best,
Bill
Lou -
Glad to see they made it okay. Lee was keeping me posted on the jumping of scheduling dates and I was considering meeting you guys out there. However, it wasn't going to work out this week.
In two days, I'll be meeting up with Lee and Julie for a Fly-in at Burke (with 20 other of our closest friends ;-)). It will certainly be a good time. Then I'm flying off to St. Louis on Tuesday for the day--what a wonderful thing it is to fly .... on business. :D
Hi Jeff,
I'm very tempted to ask them to stop back at CDW, and pick me up on their way out there to see you. :-)
Of course, that would mean Lee would have to take back seat on the flight!
Ahhh... I think I'll enjoy a nice memorial day here in "Joisey"!
We'll do it another time, my friend.
Regards,

Wow! :-eek
The A36 is on of my favorite planes! I can't wait till she comes out.
Also, would a swing down to TN be to far for ya guys? :-lol
Ahhh, finally a real GA manufacturer shows up (said very tounge in check!)! :)
I'm sure you guys will do it proud, the Bonanza is a great aircraft, and it's slightly older cousin is not too bad either! ;)

I did tell Julie that she will have to let me play "Mini-Lou" and photograph the inside of her plane. :-)
Although I can ~almost~ guarantee that I won't take 850 shots over the course of 5 hours!! :-eek I heard you were working like a dog yesterday.
Lou, are you still flying at all?
Lou,
BTW, you may wish to rethink who you are putting in as the pilot!! :-lol :-lol
It was fun to finally meet you in person, Lou, and to finally get you and Julie hooked up for the photo session. It only took what, a year?
We flew down IFR with solid overcast the whole way. At KFIT it was OVC010, and at KCDW it was below minimums at OVC005 when we left, but was expected to clear. I snapped this photo right after breaking out on top a few minutes after takeoff:

This was my first time in actual IMC and first time along on an IFR flight. Julie was gracious enough to let me fly virtually the entire flight (right seat) including the LOC 22 approach and landing at CDW. We broke out of the clouds at about 1400' AGL in light rain, and it is pretty cool to see the runway appear right in front of you after not seeing the ground the entire 1h flight.

What a beautiful machine that just says "fly me now!"

The equipment:

We recorded sounds inside and out. I think Lou was a bit nervous standing so close to 300hp at full power (not yet at full power in this photo):

Time to leave. ATIS and AWOS both reporting "sky condition clear". Hmm. That isn't a clear sky to me. It's more like scattered/broken at 4000:

I think CDW needs to fix their cloud detection equipment.
It was lots of fun. Man did Lou work like dog. It got hot out there with the sun.
Lou, no way I'm sitting in the back seat on the way to KBKL (Burke Lakefront, Cleveland) tomorrow. I'm flying left seat and responsible for all the flight planning.

Nice shots, Lee!
Indeed, great to finally meet you and Julie, and thanks for making this possible.
Yes, I was pretty wiped out after yesterday, but a shower and a few Martinis last night took care of most of it.
Nah, I was just joking with Julie when I commented about my proximity to the prop (actually about 20') at full power. I sent the sounds off to Aaron Swindle, and he said they were great, and he has lots to work with. :-)
Of course, most folks will not believe just how muffled the sound is in the well-insulated cabin of the A36, never mind that Julie's Bose headsets would make most of that sound disappear!
Have a great trip this weekend, and say hi to "mini-Lou" for me.
Hey, Jeff? "mini-Lou"? Have you been watching Austin Powers in Gold Member? That's just what I need at times, a "mini-me". :-lol
