Default C310 textures vs FS2004 'default' aircraft textures

    Hello!
I've noticed that the default fs2004 aircraft have extremely blurry textures (on my PC) on the exterior of the aircraft, but Dreamfleet's C310 has absolutely crystal-clear textures. Does anyone know what the differences are between the C310 textures and the default FS2004 aircraft textures? Just wondering. :)

    Thanks,
    FlyHig

MIP Maps. You can remove them from the stock textures using ImageTool. The 310 also uses 32bit textures.

I've done that frequently. I wonder if there are performance issues with AI if you remove the MIP maps from C172 etc., and they are buzzing around as AI at 20nm from you with the full-fledged textures. Anybody know?

Todd, the 310 doesn't use 32 Bit textures, they are DXT3 compressed, but without mipmaps. I remember Lou saying that they were origionally using 32 Bit textures in earlier beta builds, but when they began testing in FS2004, they found a big hit on preformance, so they used the DXT3 compressed textures but without mipmaps for both FS2002 & 2004, as they didn't have an impact on performance. It's right on page 4-0. :-)

As for AI, I removed them from the AI in Fs2002, but I think there was also a check box somewhere to turn the MipMaps off. I've been trying to find a similar box, but so far have been unsuccessfull.

You are correct, although for FS2002 they are 32bit textures. I had forgotten it was changed for FS9.
