Default To the Cap'n or Simon Evans or alternative Guru

    Hi Guys,

Recently upgraded from Geforce2 GTS/Pro 32mb to Geforce2 Ultra 64mb, and net gain in frame rate was zee-ro....

I am running system as follows:

    MSI 6330 Lite Motherboard
AMD Athlon 12oo Mhz 200 FSB
    512mb. PC133 Memory
    Creative Geforce2 Ultra 64mb

    Windows XP Professional
    Nvidia Reference Drivers 2770

Running FS2002 at 1024/768 with texture quality at 0, bilinear filtering and 2x Anti-Aliasing enabled using NVMax, and sliders set to roughly 3/4 in all cases except visibility (minimum) and terrain detail at 50%.

I am getting 13-15 fps at Heathrow (Garry Summons Demo) with no AI traffic in view...and that is exactly what I was getting with the old GTS/Pro card...

Drivers were installed and de-installed several times, and different versions tried 22.40, 22.50 and 23.11 and the variation was minimal...unfortunately there is no way of installing 'Standard VGA Adaptor' in the time-honoured fashion and I am out of ideas; if anyone has any ideas why changing the card has not given even a modest improvement in frame rate (or for that matter 3D Mark test points!!!!) Please let me know- Perhaps a bottleneck elsewhere, just point me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry Sir ??.. but what did you expect. ?

a gts will perform the same as a pro in fs2002, and the same - to all intents and purposes as a gf3 ti, or a gf4...

Take back your video card and get an Athlon XP 1800+, if your board takes it. You will see about a 4-7 frame/sec increase. DON'T get a geforce 3, only 1 or 2 frames.

Thanks Chaps; I wasn't expecting a hooge difference in FS2002, as I am aware it is more CPU intensive than graphics but was surprised not to gain anything at all, even in the benchmark suite, as for a 1800+ my motherboard does not support the 266mhz sidebus processors; it's a V1.0 and the jumper to change the FSB was added on v3.0, so at this point unless I can obtain a 1400/200mhz processor I am entering the new motherboard zone...

    Ah well, thanks again
