Hi,
I have just installed the RG version but I find that the aircraft pulls to the right. I have set the P factor to the minimum but does not change the behaviour. The standard 177 does not have this problem. Any clues?.

What's the torque set to? Unfortunatly, this feature was grossly exagerated in FS2002 so it can get a bit irritating at times.

Here is where I show ignorance, where is the torque indicator in the 177?.
He means in FS2002, umm, on the realism settings page. Set the torque slider about half way or less.
If you are not using rudder pedals, go into the Configomatic and make sure the alternate flight model is unchecked.

Torque is in the FS2002 realism settings.
From my experience, the 177RG pulls slightly to the right when beggining to roll. The Archer did this also. It's kind of like a sticky brake, low tire pressure, or nosewheel off to the right. In other words, it's the air.file, but I'll blame it on the above reasons. :)
The engine torque, P-factor, and slipstream effects do kick in once the takeoff roll picks up speed. Then you should be applying right rudder through the takeoff roll and climb to cruise.
IMO---- The torque effects may be (are!!) exaggerated when using keyboards, twist grips, and rocker switches for rudder control. But with my old "thrustmaster" rudder pedals, the effect is near perfect. Much better than most other simulations except for IL-2 Sturmovik. Without pedals, I'd just set for auto-coordination.

Do you have alot of heavy passengers loaded on the right side?
ran into this problem once
I have exactly the same in both the RG and FG versions, with symetrical (and identical) passenger load in both.
Standard 170lb in both front seats, no rear seat passengers.
With torque turned off, it rolls about 3 degrees to one side, with torque set to anything at all, it rolls 5 degrees to the other side.
That's a lot more than any other aircraft in my inventory...

I find that, just like in real life, the rudder trim requirement varies with power application. You may need to fine tune the rudder trim settings. I use a button to switch off auto-coordination so i can dial out the trim from the turn and slip indicator, then switch it back on.

As Bill indicated, make sure the alternate flight dynamics box in the Config-O-Matic is NOT checked. That should cure the problem.
