LAST EDITED ON Sep-02-02 AT 11:33AM (EDT)[p]After an afternnon of hiking around the rim, and seeing the Ranger station at the bottom of the Canyon that Peter did a Beat-Up from (hence the mandatory flight rules for 10,500 ft headed South and 11,500 headed North....and NO flying into the canyon). :-lol we got back in the C177 to take a short 1 hr flight to see the Canyon at sunset.
Taking off from KGCN isnt too bad.... but there are LOTS of Caravans with tourists on board to sight see. And with an altitude of 6,606 MSL... I have to climb to 11,500 before I can go into the Canyon (the rim is only about 3 mi from the airport). So needless to say I had to "fly the pattern" several times before I could get up that high.
Ok...on with the show.......
Check out the line up of tourists with the same Idea I had!

We left North Las Vegas airport at 5:30 am and its now 7:30 pm. We have had a long day of flying, hiking, and just having fun. Time to catch a bus to Grand Canyon Village for some dinner, then back to the hotel room a shower.
We get up early again tomorrow to leave for Echo Bay. We will spend the afternoon there picnicing, swinmming, water skiing... then in the evening a flight back to North Las Vegas, turn in the keys to our Cessna then a taxi ride to Las Vegas Intl. Then the commercial flight back to Seattle. Hope we get one of those Dreafleet modified Boeing 737's..... being as Im type rated on one.
HEY maybe when we get back to Emma Field, Ol'Fritz may know where we can BUY a C-177 or order one from DREAMFLEET for our use...being as we like this one so much. Maybe Ol'Fritz can paint her in my school colors! I like that Idea.
Hope you all have enjoyed so far.
Claude
