    Default Installation Problems

I have downloaded thee file from Flight 1 that allows you to purchase and install the DF734. I have heard nothing but good things about it so I wanted to join the crew. :D
I hit a problem while trying to run the set up file. It tells me that I must not have anyother programs and a firewall running at the same time. I have made sure that i dont and I am running Windows XP, so i cant turn off the firewall as it is built in.
I click the OK button then it pops up a window saying that there was an error and I must contact the Vendor for further assistance.

It does nothin else except that.
Any Ideas, becuase my cash (Credit Card :D) is burning a hole in my pocket

I'm not the expert in this area, but there are those who have installed to XP without issue, and you MUST have no firewall in place that may block connection to the Flight One server, as the purchase / install requires connection to the internet.

Perhaps others will chime in with additional help / advice.

You can also post this problem over at the Flight One Support forum, as it is they who handle the installation part of the package.

One way or the other, you'll get it installed. :-)

You're right about XP having a built in firewall, but it can be de-activated:

To enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall
    Open Network Connections
Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection that you want to protect, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, select one of the following:
To enable Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), select the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
To disable Internet Connection Firewall, clear the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.

To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
You must be logged on as a computer administrator to complete this procedure.
If you clear the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box, the firewall on your computer is disabled, and your network is vulnerable to intrusions.
You should not enable Internet Connection Firewall on virtual private networking (VPN) connections or on client computers because ICF will interfere with file and printer sharing.
ICF cannot be enabled on the private connections of the Internet Connection Sharing host computer.
Internet Connection Sharing, Internet Connection Firewall, Discovery and Control, and Network Bridge are not available on Windows XP 64-Bit Edition.

Try this and see if it works.

I use WinXP and had no problems on download.

Beat me to it Mark. Indeed you can disable the Windows XP firewall. Just follow Mark's provided guide and you should be set.
