Thread: Sound config question

  1. Default Sound config question

    This may be a BIT off topic but the really smart guys hang out here so here goes..

    Here is the [sound] section of my FS2002.cfg file:

    [SOUND]
    SOUND=1
    SOUND_FADER1=0.380000
    SOUND_FADER2=0.820000
    SOUND_FADER3=0.870000
    SOUND_FADER4=0.800000
    SOUND_FADER5=0.930000
    SOUND_FADER6=1.000000
    SOUND_QUALITY=2

    Most of my planes sound great BUT the ones from Arron Swindle and others ALL sound terrible and in the same way, they sound like they were recorded in a tunnel. Now as many files as he put out I can't believe I would be the only one to think they have a problem so I am inclined to think I may have a config issue. By the way, the new China Clipper (B314) also sounds terrible. The DF737, Archer, PIC767 and all the default MS planes sound great.

    Any clues/hints?? I am using a SoundBlater Live V 5.X

    Greetings Mike,

    First, I'm definitely not one of the "Smart Guys" when it comes to Sound Files but did you try adjusting the sound options in Flight Simulator. See I told you I wasn't one of the Smart Guys. Good Luck.

    Don't know if ti will work, but I know Aaron's sounds are all 44,100 Hz...insert this into your FS2002.cfg file (replace {} with brackets):

    {SOUND}
    Channels=2
    SamplesPerSec=44100
    BitsPerSample=16

    By default FS2002 samples sounds at 22,050 Hz, and the conversion makes sounds at lower and higher frequencies sound like crap.

    FLIGHTFX POLICY
    1.) We design for reality, not for idealism.
    Thus, you will not see virtual cabins on our aircraft. You can not see inside the real thing anyway, unless you are looking into the sun. You will find virtual cockpits but they will not be visible from outside for the same reason.
    2.) We design for people with real computers. Thusly, we will not waste polygons on superfluous parts. We will use a texture when there is no noticeable difference between it and a group of performance wasting parts. We will model our aircraft efficiently. If you do not like it, too bad.
    3.) We will give you the latest features, but we WILL NOT sacrifice visual accuracy to implement them. Accuracy comes before eye candy.[/font size]
