Hello friends, yesterday i purchased your brand new archer II. Now I have five hours in my logbook. Great job, nice plane.

My question is 'bout takeoffs. I'm flying a Warrior III and i remember my first lesson when my instructor took off without using the yoke, he just adjusted the trim wheel, full throttle and airbone.

NOTE: no wind that day and he's a very experimented instructor, don't try this in real flights please, you have to use the rudder pedals like a master to do it safely, keep your hand on the yoke! ;).

I your FS2002 Archer model i have to pull quite a lot the yoke to be airbone (correctly trimmed), and it's like she jumps up, it isn't and smooth transition when the lift is greater than the weight.

Can be anything wrong in my installation? I've read that Ron Freimuth is working with the flight model. Is he going to release an update for the flight model?.

Many thanks for the plane, she flies nice and accurate, the stall horn is awesome!. One of my dreams is to own an Archer III and now i have an oldie Archer II for less than 20$!!

    See you in the skies,

I practiced flying a Cherokee 140, (just a smaller engine PA-28), without using any one specific control. When trimmed I managed to climb, cruise, descent, and turn without using the Elevators. Or, by using the elevators but leaving the throttle set to nominal power. That was a long time ago......

That isn't right. I found that setting elevator trim 1/3 of the way below the mid line (trim up) was about right for takeoff regardless of the passenger load. Very little 'back stick' was required to lift off at 60 kts, no flaps. This might vary a bit, depending on how many passengers are configured, but not a lot.

Conversly, if you trim pitch to get 75 kts IAS climb (takes a while to stabilize) that should be reasonable, even if not perfect, for TO.

I'll check the release version -- which I just DL'ed. But, I haven't seen others mention this problem so it sounds like something at your end. Try using the Config Editor to change the number of passengers, it could be something funny happened that will either self correct, or clearly show a problem. In which case I suppose installing again would be worth trying.

Aha, and I thought the mark was there to indicate proper takeoff trim. Maybe "ECBLT" did, too.

You must remember that each a/c is a bit of an individual. The indicated trim setting may vary a bit from a/c to a/c. Just pretend that this one has a misadjusted trim indicator and you should be OK ! :-)

Hi Ron, thanks for fast reply. I'll check my installation, i'll also try deleting fs2002.cfg, sometimes it gets corrupt. I trust on your work!, your C172SP is the best flight dinamics i've flown in a light plane for FS2002.

In my actual installation of the archer i have the feeling that the angle of the wing is negative when the plane is on the ground, so i need to apply a lot of elevator to make the nose come up to the correct angle of atack, and at this moment my archer jumps cause i have a lot of pull back pressure on the yoke. The same on landings, when i touch with main wheels the nose came down very fast.

I'll post a message in the forum if the reinstallation solves the problem. If i'm the only one with this problem the cause of it is into my computer.

    best regards

    Hy.

I got the same trim problem than BLT.
During lift offs the nose of the piper goes up too
violently, same happens during the landings.

I haven't try yet to delate the fs.config neither a
    fresh install.

So, assuming that the trim doesn't suffers changes with weight
variations, I understand that the proper trim position for
TO is 1/3 below the center mark??, is thet correct?

Yestarday I took a glance to the manual trying to find some info
about this issue, but I didn't find anything about trim positions.

    Best rgrds

    Eukene.

PD. The PA-28 is just awesome

Also there's no any indication in the trim gauge to tell pilot
the proper psotion of the trim for TO's.
The real archer has any indication in the trim gauge??
