Default The real Full Flight Sims!

    Hi guys,

Recently Lou posted a webpage of Aerosim where they sell B737 sims for US$ 500,000 (bargain!!). Actually, they can be much more expensive when equipped with a motion system and complete wide visual system.
This week I was in the USA to check out our motion system for a full flight simulator of the Hawker 800. This thing goes for approx. US$ 6,000,000!! On these sims you can earn your type rating without ever have flown the bird before.
Being only a real world GA pilot, I found the Hawker to fly smoother and easier as any Archer or Cessna does. But still, nothing beats the 737 :-)!
The photo below shows the Hawker 800 sim. We (the team I work with) did the motion system. The owner of the simulator owns an easy webpage: www.simulator.com, which is nice to look at.

Six million? Is that used or new? ;-)

The 744 sim that Tom and I flew was over 15 million, and I understand that these days the prices go waaaaaaay beyond that. :-eek

Then again, for the 1/2 million for Aerosim, I'll go out and buy a mint condition Piper Navajo Chieftan, equipped to the gills with avionics, and put the hundred thousand dollars left over into my pocket! ;-)

I fondly recall when taking instruction for my PPL, back in 1974, we used to go up to Stewart field, in Newburgh, New York, to practice touch and goes. One time we shared the pattern with a Pan Am 707 that was doing the same. Ahhhhh... those were the days! :-)

Well, yeah, the full flights still do + 10 million US$, depending on the precision of simulation. The FAA certificies these sims on levels. Level D is the highest. The one I showed you is a level C, assembled at COST of 6 million.
I flew this sim last week, it was really great, breaking through the clouds at 300 ft, and then FEEL the weels kiss the tarmac after a gentle flair. The extra windows in a full flight sim help to perfection the flair a lot. I sometimes really create potholes in the runway flying down the glideslope with just one flat screen in front of me.

By the way Lou, the DF737 is a great product, the aeromodel is super! I hardly could find any differences with the 737's I flew on full flight sims! Only the taxi behaviour shows some differences. The real bird taxis away on idle whereas the DF737 needs some more throttle, but hey, who cares about taxiing? Great job!

    See you :-wave,
    Ronald

I'd say DF737 is the better deal. Look at all the liveries you can have. All this one comes with is SIMCOM (and from the external view, it doesn't really look very realistic.) ;-)
