A few hundred feet? The utmost I get is some tens of feet while FS2K is loading new scenery - weird suggestion therefore: is your scenery buffer (FS2K-menu "Scenery") around 40-50 MB? If less, adjust it.
I have no other explanation. Just to make sure: at what speed are you cruising?

    I've had this problem, too.

First, in the FMC settings menu (right click on FMC, select settings) set ACQ MODE to soft. If that doesn't work, you can set to "ultra-soft" manually. I can't remember exactly the parameters, but somewhere in the archive there's a post explaining it .

Are you using FSUIPC to calibrate your controller..? This sounds like an extraneous `noise` problem similar to that which afflicted users in PIC.

Try switching OFF the controller and see if the porpoising continues. If it does, then try the tip in the thread above. Otherwise use FSUIPC to calibrate your controls.
