    The engine vibration indicator monitors engine vibration, but what units are the vibration expressed in?

    Hey Brad, as I understand it, the vibration gauge monitors engine vibration amplitude in mils (thousandths) of an inch at four locations on the engine: the fan, the low-pressure turbine, the compressor and the high-pressure turbine. Four mils, or 4/1000 in. is the normal maximum allowable vibration level at any single point in the engine.
