    Default The Curse of Lockups

This is NOT a Dreamfleet problem but maybe someone may be able to help me.

I have the following system setup :
1 Ghz Gateway PC (Athlon Processor)
512Mb Ram :256Mb Bank 0 DIMM SDRAM with ECC
:256Mb Bank 1 DIMM SDRAM non ECC
A Matrox G450 Dual HEAD Graphics Card (Latest Drivers Installed)
S SB Live Sound card. (Latest Drivers Installed)

The Lockups seem to be affecting ONLY FS2002(with or without DF Panel installed) as other applications seem to work OK. I removed one of the 256Mb of ram (non ECC) in case there was a conflict but I still got the lockups.

With the lockups I can never be sure of a flight of duration
1 Hour or more or even less sometimes which can be very frustrating having to start over and over again.

    Regards And Thank You

As a test, remove the sound card (I know, it will be weird to fly with no sound), the SoundBlaster Live card seems to show up a lot in systems where people have been having problems..

I had the same problem & I to had 2 256mg sticks. They were different brands. I also took out one at a time & tested but still got crashes between 1 to 10 mins. I went and bought a 512 stick & put it in. No more crashes. It's been running great ever since. I don't know why taking 1 stick out didn't solve it. But that's what did it for me. And believe me I was trying everything. Reinstalling windows reinstalling fs2k2... So you might consider getting a 512mg chip or getting 2 256 of the same type and brand. I went amost 2 week messing with it. Suprised my computer still works with all the changing this changing that I did to it.

    Hi,

my lockups started when I installed a second RAM chip, and also only occurred when running FS2000.

I went through my BIOS settings, and turned off "TOP Performance", and my lockups went away. I suggest you check through your BIOS and see if you have something similar, and try turning it off.

    cheers,
    chris.
