Default FMC Repositioning?

LAST EDITED ON Jan-03-02 AT 04:32AM (EDT)[p]Hi, Up until last night my FMC has worked great.
I reduce its size a bit from the default and move it over to the right of my monitor.
Each time I re-open or restore to active the FMC it was re-opening in the same spot over to the right, now all of a sudden it opens in the position to the right then does a flicker and repositions to the middle of the screen. It stays the reduced size though so....

WHY did it just start doing this?

Good question! I've experienced the same with my setup. If anyone has discovered the cause or has a suggested fix, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Happens to me too. For me it will properly reopen up on the right side until I task switch out of full-screen FS and return. Then it is not happy on the right side. I run FS at a different resolution than my Windows desktop in case that matters.

I've taken to placing it in the lower left, reduced a bit so it doesn't cover the ND. There isn't much over there to cover up anyways, so I like it there.

There is a line you can change in the FMC Config file to determine it's location when it opens. I believe the default was set to open in the middle of the screen.

[FMC_POSITION]
// 0 - Centered in FS, 1 - TopLeft, 2 - TopRight, 3 - BottomLeft, 4 - BottomRight, 5 - Last
StartPos=1
FSTop=0
FSLeft=0

Change the start position to whichever value you want. I like mine to start in the top left corner, so I changed the value to 1. After doing this, the FMC has never changed from that position after many, many flights - although I never switch from full-screen to windowed mode either (always in windowed mode).

Todd,

Thanks for the tip... it worked as advertised until I ALT-TABed to the desktop to check FSMeteo. Upon returning to FS2k2, the FMC had shifted towards center again (although it retained its smaller size). All attempts to relocate the FMC to the lower right did not stick.

Apparently Lee (see post above) is on to something regarding desktop resolution, windowed mode, and the like. I'll continue to test various configurations in search of a solution.

I'm not sure I was clear above, but if I keep it on the left, it stays put nicely. Don't ask me why!

Works a treat.
BTW, I dont EVER use full screen or ALT-TAB to switch windows etc. If it can be done with the mouse I dont usually do it. I hate typing anything whilst flying. The less to do with the keyboard once I start FS the better.

It did return to its same position from the start but for some reason decided to stop returning to the same position.
