Thread: Scenery Problems with Apron Edge Lights and ILS System

  1. Default Scenery Problems with Apron Edge Lights and ILS System

Hi All : First, I am using SceneGenX V1,Build 61, in FS2004, on Windows XP.
Two questions.......How do I delete Apron Edge lights. I believe I have followed the Tutorial 'to the letter', but nothing I've tried will get rid of them. Is there a 'bug' in this area of the program ? I also have two rows of Taxiway Lights running completely accross my airport scenery......don't have any idea where those came from.
Second.........I'm having a problem setting up the ILS system in the scenery. The green ILS track shows up on the GPS window AND on the Map Display of FS, but the HSI remains 'flagged'. Is this a flaw in the program or is there something stupid I'm not doing on the setup dialog ?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide me. Floyd H.

Open up the .sgx file in notepad. Find the edgelights area and delete the ones you don't need. I find it best to delete them all and start over. I have no idea on the ILS

    The listing looks like this

    -EDGELIGHT_LL = 1 39.0065334899242 -95.2181281873594
    -EDGELIGHT_LL = 2 39.0065739828363 -95.2171085753255

Thanks for your reply Robert (?). Your solution worked very well. It got rid of all my Apron Lights as well as the line of lights through the centre of my scenery. Many thanks. Floyd H.

I run into this problem all the time when I design an airport that is not in FS2004. I usually try to get all the runways, taxiways, parking and navaides in place with AFCAD simply because its easier. I then import the afcad into scenegenx for detailed editing. I then remove the afcad from the simulator so all the generated scenery is in the scenegenx generated .bgl

    Hi:
Thanks for the further information Robert. As I continue working with SceneGenX I find that most of my problems are 'self induced' <G> I managed to cure my ILS problems by filling in the correct information in the ID block.....ICAO instead of Rwy heading. I find the Tutorial lacking in explaining how to fill in these Dialogue windows...at least to 'newbies' <G>
My latest 'problem' is trying to find a way to make the immediate area around my airport that is completely bare of 'scenery' (except grass, of course). If I keep at it I expect I will find the solution.
Take care, Robert, and I will try your method of using AFCAD2 when building non-default airports in the future.
    Thanks again . Floyd H.

Use the apron command to set the grass area. Make sure the display layer is lower that the aprons you want to cover it, like roads and real aprons. I set the background layer to 1 and use 2 for roads and 3 for real aprons.
