Thread: BGLComp compile error

  1. Default BGLComp compile error

I have just installed SceneGenX V1 bld34, and trying to compile an XML file to a BGL file. When I hit the "Compile" button, I get the following error:

BGLComp General Compilation error. Check in Options of BGLComp path is correct.

    Some info:

I have verified that the bglcomp.exe path are correct. I double-checked it by using the "Browse" option to locate it.

The SGX/XML file only has an exclude area in it...nothing else.

    The XML file looks good.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

Any error messages on the compile dialog? After you get the BGLComp error dialog, the yellow message list will open, press the XML Code button to go to the compile dialog. Click on the BGLComp Messages tab to see any error messages put out by BGLComp while it was trying to run.

If there are none, it means that BGLComp never ran, and it has something to do with the path/filenames configured in the Options dialog. Also, check to make sure the .XSD file is co-located with BGLComp.

Has it run before and just stopped?

I'm also getting the same error, it say the compile is complete, but doesn't place a bgl in the location I've specified.

It does create a 0 kb bgl in the same folder as the sgx file.

I've checked the paths and they're all correct.

    Hi

I am also getting the same format of compilation message but it is referring to Scasm as I am adding some user api's.
I appear to have Scasm.exe in the required folder.
Also when I load the file I am currently working on I keep getting a message saying that the path to one particular api file can not be found. I input the path ( same path as all the other api's ) from the 'browse' facility and the loading completes. However the next time I load the file I get the same again.

    Hi,

I had the same problems, but than I read in on of our german forums, that you have to make your standard-decimal sign a point instead of a comma. I tried it and it worked. But than I had a lot of problems with other programs, that prefer the comma!!!

May be Tom can fix that for both variations!?

SGX attempts to take either a comma or period for the decimal point. The problem is the Visual Basic language is not consistent in converting them, and the compilers only want the period.

I keep trying to catch all the conversion errors, so if you have a specific example, please let me know and I'll fix the program. Ideally, it should work either way.

    Hi Tom

I earlier reported a problem with Scasm compilation.
I am trying to place API objects made with Novasim program. The problem appears to stem from objects drawn from object libraries made with the internal facility in Novasim.
The calling api files all start with the @ symbol ie @myobject and if my memory serves me correctly, some time ago, we had a similar problem with a version of AFW with @ in the file name. I wonder if this is causing problems again.
There is also a problem with SGX initially loading the paths to these objects on start-up.
I have temporarily disabled all objects with @ in file names but retained other Novasim created objects ( not library objects ) and the compilation is okay.

I looked into this on the latest build 35, and SGX should be able the handle the old & and @ prefixes that AFW used on macrofilenames. Let me know if you have a specific example of the problem.

    Hi Tom

I have installed Build35 but repgret to advise that my problems with loading and compilation, as outlined earlier, are still present.

    Iain,

Work will continue - maybe I can catch it next build.
