Default I can't even get started!

I downloaded V 2.6 and attempted to install it. It kept asking for a FSFlightLog.msi file which couldn't be found and then just kept looping. The only way out was Ctl-Alt-Del. I finally found the file folder FS Flight Log and deleted it (there was no ".msi" file therein). Thereafter, V 2.6 seemed to install OK.
I then installed V 3 which seemed to go OK.
I then opened V3 and discovered the manual for V 3 wouldn't open. Neither would the tutorals.Just nothing happened when I clicked on them.
I went to the file/new/options as suggested, set the FS version to FS2004 and then got stuck specifying file locations - haven't a clue where scenerydb and BGL files are located. In fact, very little worked "as advertised"
I have done this whole routine 3 times and wasted an hour thinking I had missed a point somewhere.
    HELP!!!!!!

  2. Default RE: I can't even get started!

There is not a help manual specifically for AFW 3.0 available yet. The earlier version's help flles should be helpful though because there's not that much difference in how the scenery object apps are handled. Most of the differences in 3.0 involve things like opening multiple sceneries at one time, copying objects from one scenery project to another etc.

You can usually find the answers you're looking for by doing a search on this forum using key words to define what info you're looking for. The link below will take you to a message in a thread that should be helpful to you. Just apply what it says to your own project's name.

Then, if you still can't get things started, jump back in and I'm sure someone will try to help you narrow-down the problems.

    J.R.,
Thanks for the reply. Looks like that might get me started.
When I reopened the program later on, several of the directory windows were filled in with what seems to be correct locations.
I'll be working on this sometime within the next 2/3 days. I want to add an island with heliport and some buildings on a small lake in New York state were a friend lives (It's his island, about 80' x 100' with cabin and boat landing).
    Thanks again.
