taxiway lights are positioned automatically by Airport or Flight Sim. Aitport puts the lights in the midpoint of short segments rather than the ends to avoid duplicate lights at the corners. I don't know how FS puts the lights.

Hi Steve. Here's a scrnshot of a taxi apron to end of runway with blue edge lights. The settings in the polygon build window are: Layer=4 (most polys are at layer level 8 but this worked OK), day edge lights color 02, Night edge lights Color= 11 and 10 meter lights spacing was selected. This apron poly is made up of 18 points and was made with build 154 and later compiled with build 156 with no change in number of lighted dots.

I think that as Tom reported, you should get at least as many lights showing as the number of points in the Polygon...

The taxiway approaching the edge lighted apron has different light spacing because it's a different scenery object made from a macro.

'Hope maybe these settings might help for standard edge lights..

If you are a purist and insist on perfectly even spaced lights I think you can use the SCASM Dotline( command to evenly space the lights. I've done this to add lines of lights to roofs of hangars or buildings, etc. Also, they can be made to flash on and off.

Thanks for the quick responses and suggestions. I guess the bottom line is that Airport places the lights in the middle of each polygon segment instead of at the start of each segment.

I used ASD 2.1 for my scenery designing before this and painstakingly laid out my taxi lights using the LINE function. The finished product with dozens of lines looked great, but the work was incredibly tedious. This system works much easier and I'll just have to learn to be less of a purist ! Probably much better for framerates too.

***Steve, If you'll notice there are at least 11 or 12 lights on the longest segment of the apron in the picture I sent, so it's obvious that other factors (maybe the lights spacing/meter in the create window or the FS scenery engine (or both) are involved. It appears to me that on "super-short" segments such as we may do in making curves on polygons, the "light in the middle" might apply but on the long lines, they seem to get "lit" based on the selection of spacing in the create window; at least that's what I think I'm seeing here.***

***You can still do that in Apt by using the "Lines or Lines of Objects" routine which will also draw the newer type taxiway lines for you.***
