    Default AFCAD parking spot seperations

    Good day all,

I am new to the AFCAD program, and have figured out most of it. The problem is that there are distinctions between military parking, commercial, and genral aviation. So, how do you get the respective planes to park in their spots? For instance, I have C-17s at Charleston Int'l/AFB in my AI, and have laid out a bunch of military transport spots for them. But the AI parks the C-17s in the GA spots or at the terminal on the other side of the ramp. Or, parks the commercial jets in the military spots. Does anyone know a way to specify the parking even more on AFCAD?

I believe that AI does not differentiate between parking categories but assigns the first available spot of the right size to the incoming aircraft. Perhaps the categories are there, inoperative, for some future implementation by MS FS Team.
I am still experimenting, but it may be that AI chooses parking spots nearest to the active runway first.
The only way I know to make aircraft park at different terminals, areas or ramps is to create overlay airports. The AFCAD's manual explains the procedure in clear terms. It is not too big a task because all you do really is to take the original airport and cut off the links to the areas you do not want some aircraft to park, but you have to re-programme flight schedules assigning, for instance, GA, commercial and military flights to each airport.
